Rheingold: nothing in the world compares
In the article “LunarStorm: Sweden’s Youthful, Increasingly Mobile Virtual Community” Howard Rheingold finds no equivalent anywhere in the world among young people.
The man who wrote the book on virtual communities couldn't find anything to compare us with.
- Rheingold compares it with youth culture in Harajuku and Harlem and calls LunarStorm probably the first community for “moblogging”, thanks to LunarMobil.
- The figures in 2005: 1.3 million active members (82% of all 12 to 24-year-olds and 88% of 12 to 19-year-olds) and a billion page views a month.
- Johan Forsberg described “The Giggle Effect” and the tsunami effort; Rheingold saw the tsunami night as proof that LunarStorm was a genuine community.
