Krypin: no more ”who are you and where are you from?”
The Krypin profile standardises the first questions: age, town, interests. Everyone gets the same structure, easy to check out.
I turned all the standard questions people asked into a profile. Then people could click on your profile and find out who you are, and whether you might be friend material, without even asking.
- The purpose: to ”not have to ask every time; who are you and where are you from”.
- Visiting someone's profile was called ”krypa in” (crawling in).
- The krypin decorators learned HTML ”without realising they were learning HTML” (the prologue).
- The podcast 2016: ”why couldn't people have a profile instead that quickly explains this? … and then the live chat was more or less forgotten.”
- Rickard 2024: the profile ”formalised” the questions everyone asked in the chat (age, town, hobbies) so you could see whether someone was an interesting friend.
