LunarStorm UK opens in London
LunarStorm.co.uk launches at 4 pm. An office in London, its own promo films, but it has taken a year from idea to launch.
It took a year from the idea to the launch, and by then it was too late. Before that, social media didn't exist at all in any other country, except South Korea.
- LUNARSTORM UK LIMITED was registered on 2005-10-13 (Companies House).
- CEO Hans Eriksson: 1.2 million members; 60% ads, 40% member revenue.
- Rickard 2024: resistance from the board; “spreadsheet after spreadsheet with unreasonable forecasts”.
- The board's yes came on 28 Jan 2005; the project was paused on 16 June and restarted after the board meeting on 23 Aug: “UK, here we go :-D”.
- Beta for employees on 5 Sep; CEO Matt Colebourne was recruited in August. Swedish LunarStorm members couldn't log in, so that the Brits wouldn't end up in the minority.
- The same afternoon Hasse, Rick and Bjarne held an info meeting in Caven, followed by a release party. 12,080 members on 8 Dec.
