First time on the web, at Halmstad City Library

During his military service Rickard surfs in Netscape for the first time. Verdict: boring, complicated, but you could communicate.

I remember sitting in Halmstad City Library in '96 and using the internet for the first time. I thought it was terribly boring.

The diary: ”The internet is a bit prettier than the BBSes' ANSI graphics, but still no revolution … Maybe something you could make a soup out of...”
The web in 1996: Altavista, Under Construction signs and ”bouncing moose”.
Separate programs for email, Usenet and IRC, full of computer jargon.
Lindstedt: Rickard found the web dull and stiff compared with the interactivity of the BBSes.
